  1. Unfortunately my town Ráquira (Boyacá) occupies the fourth place with the most polluted air in the country. The lack of control and surveillance increases the problem and the diseases increase.
María Carmen Sánchez says they have it 'surrounded' and all because around her house are located 15 ovens, where the crafts that have made this Boyacá population famous are produced.
The woman, 65, born in this town, suffers from a serious disease in the left lung that causes her to suffocate and forces her to use an inhaler, which is why when they are turned on the ovens must leave their residence, located in the Santa Bárbara de Ráquira neighborhood, towards the countryside.
She says: "We eat smoke daily, but especially on Fridays and weekends because they light all the ovens at the same time and the smoke becomes unbearable, so I live in the doctor."
Cases like that of María del Carmen, are frequent to find in this town, where there are about 350 workshops where artisanal pieces are made in kilns that, for the most part, don’t meet the technical requirements for their operation.

  2. Most of this city presents a very positive aspect, according to the analyzes made, but more than that to what is obviously perceived, with the advantage of being a small city and not being so industrialized, however, if there are other environmental problems, such as pollution of water sources.
